Jean was born into a musical family - reaching for piano at the tender age of 3, passing all grades for piano at 15 and obtaining two degrees by 21.
Jean is an Associate of Trinity College London for piano and a Licentiate of the Guildhall School of Music for the organ.
Jean was tutored in jazz by the late great Johnny Dankworth and with her classical training she is a natural at classical jazz and many other types of music. It is as though music flows through her veins when her fingers touch the keys!
Jean also studied drama and appeared in several television programmes as a supporting artist including Howard's Way, Boon and more recently Love and Marriage with Alison Steadman.
Jean taught music at Primary level eventually joining the staff of a Middle school where she was Head of the music department for many years.
In addition to teaching, Jean has also toured the concert scene performing to people of the electronic organ and keyboard community.
Alongside her teaching career, Jean has raised money for a number of charities through concerts and campaigns reaching figures in excess of £60,000.
In 2011 the great British public took Jean into their hearts when she rocked the Britain's Got Talent audience on her keyboard and soared into the finals! But, delve deeper into Jean's musical life and there is a lot more to discover; Jean performs classical pieces including Rhapsody in Blue by George Gershwin, Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody and Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto to name a few!
Jean is a Staffordshire lass, and has never forgotten her roots. Despite her success since BGT, she is just like the girl next door.
Following the finals Jean went on tour and performed at the NIA Birmingham, O2 Arena London, Wembley and many other major Arenas throughout England, Scotland and Wales.
Following the tour, Jean was invited to St James’s Palace to accompany Dame Vera Lynn and perform to the war veterans of the Not Forgotten Association. Jean has been introduced to senior members of the Royal family including HRH Princess Anne, The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and HRH Prince Edward. Jean has been invited to Buckingham Palace on five occasions and performed in the Speakers’ private residence at the Houses of Parliament. Jean has also performed in Royal households, including the private residence of the Duke of Westminster.
Jeans’ success over the past seven years has been mainly due to her partner Bob, who in October 2014 became her husband. With his love and support Jean has lived the dream.
Not only a performer - Jean composes music, a recent composition was the theme tune to the well known Sun Bingo, Having a Ball live internet TV show, where she worked as musical director. Jean also stared in the show alongside Rustie Lee, Chico, Christopher Biggins and Russell Grant to name just a few. Jean joined Philip Schofield during his 24 hour TV Challenge, performing a medley to keep him awake at 1:15am!
Jean's other appearances have included performing the pipe organ, grand piano and keyboard on BBC Songs of Praise with Aled Jones and on stage at the Drury Lane Theatre to the cast of Shrek with Amanda Holden who played Princess Fiona.
With a smile on her face, a sparkle in her eye and a passion for her music, Jean has gained the title of National Treasure. What more can a girl want?
